After the first few days of motivated weight loss attempts with your gorgeous new figure on your mind, the anticipation often starts to disappear quickly when the scale does not show fast weight loss.

If we don't see effects within the first days or week, often we get discouraged and start cheating on our diet. Why going through all the trouble of weight loss when it doesn't work anyway? It does work, you must just adhere with it and don't set your expectations too high.


Once you have set up the basics, meaning you are eating less and being at least a bit more energetic, there is one more essential thing to do, you need to keep your motivation up and be patient. This is probably where most people not succeed.

And after we might have experienced some initial weight loss due to decreased water retention and less food in your body we often hit a plateau. This is the most difficult phase of your diet and any support is much appreciated as otherwise the chance of falling off the wagon is high.

It always takes longer than you think for the scale to pick up your weight loss as your weight underlies variations of 1-2 pounds anyway. Just be patient and proceed to do what you do.

Go back and examine what you ate and how many extra calories you burned through exercise or other activities and get a reasonable idea of how much weight you should have lost. Usually you will see that you only need to be a bit more patient and you are there.


Also, if you use the scale as the only gauge, this can be quite misguiding. Make sure you are also using the tape measure and check if you simply feel slimmer. Often the scale will give in a few days later!

So, during that initial stage make sure to get a daily dose of motivation, read your weight loss blogs or books etc. or do whatever motivates you, and when the first pounds came off you will be able to motivate yourself more easily.

If you can find a weight loss buddy that should be beneficial and motivate you a lot, if you can't find somebody you might want to read about successful weight loss cases or view similar videos on YouTube to keep your spirits up and so you will not lose the positiveness that you can do it too. Be patient and you will see success soon!
